Francis
Ledwidge Poetry Competition
The Francis Ledwidge poetry competition is open
to students in Primary and Secondary schools in Meath,
Louth, Monaghan and Cavan. Each entrant receives a certificate
of achievement and his or her poem is inserted in a
book which is on display in the Francis Ledwidge Museum.
There are four categories and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizewinners
in each category receive cash prizes. The 1st prize
poem in each category is inscribed into a collage and
this is presented to their school. The "Francis
Ledwidge Perpetual Trophy" is presented to the
school with the highest overall standard of entries.
The
schools are notified about the competition early in
the new year and the closing date is the end of March.
