Ledwidge Day The life and poetry of Slane's most famous son Francis E Ledwidge is celebrated every year on the last Sunday in July. The date is now firmly established in the 'Events Calendar' and coincides with the anniversary of the poet's death on 31st July 1917. For more information please click here
President Honours Slane Poet 2004 On June 7th President McAleese honoured Slane poet Francis Ledwidge by visiting his final resting place just north of the city of Ieper in Belgium. For more information please click here
Francis Ledwidge Poetry Competition Winners 2004 The Francis Ledwidge poetry competition is open to students in Primary and Secondary schools in Meath, Louth, Monaghan and Cavan.
