There are also bicycles for hire for the enthusiast

The walker is spoilt for choice in this beautiful picturesque
area. The Slane Town Trail guides the walker through
the village of Slane and out the road towards Drogheda
to the passage graves at Newgrange and Knowth. (See
Slane
by C.E.F. Trench). There is also a walk known as
The Boyne Valley Towpath that takes the visitor a distance
of 8km from Navan to Slane along the banks of the River
Boyne, parallel with the old canal. There is beautiful
wooded scenery and wildlife on this path. There are
also forest walks at Littlewood, Slane and Townley Hall.

is a very popular sport on the River Boyne and canoeists
can be seen most Sundays at Slane bridge as they negotiate
the weir beside the bridge.
